MMUnion is moving from Oxford Road to a new site next to ‘The Salutation’ on the central All Saints Campus. The building will include a hall space, shop, café bar and a recreation studio as well as a flexible set of spaces that can accommodate a range of student union offices, meeting rooms, informal meeting spaces, counselling offices and social spaces. Construction commences for the new Students’ Union building in summer 2013, forecast for completion alongside Birley Fields campus. 
 
An iCYCLE store, designed into the New Students’ Union Building will provide a complete cycling experience for our staff, students and members of the public. The new store will offer anything and everything to do with cycling: from bike and equipment rentals to free cycle training and maintenance classes. 
 
Key Environmental Technologies
  • Primary heat source provided via heat pump systems linked to internal heating and cooling fan coil units or cassettes.
  • General heating provided via air source heat pump water boiler.
  • Domestic hot water load supplied via air source heat pump water boiler and solar collectors.
  • Mains domestic hot water load will be provided by high efficiency condensing gas fire boiler plant.
  • All pumped water systems to be variable speed with inverter pump sets.
  • Ventilation systems to be controlled via variable air volume damper control system linked to occupancy sensors and air quality sensors with invertor drives on fans.
  • Ventilation systems shall include heat reclaim measures.
  • Lighting systems will be controlled for presence detection/absence detection and daylight dimming.
